Atropos' help is sparing and conditional on account of the fact that he finds the situation hilarious. His star Reaper messing up isn't something he can just forget about without taking advantage of it. However, he has his own agenda involving Pythios which neither girl can make sense of. While Pythios wants as little to do with him as possible, Naia is intrigued by (and perhaps a bit infatuated with) the ringleader of the secret world she's been thrust into.
With Naia and Pythios forced to spend their lives together for the foreseeable future, feelings blossom between the two, but where do those feelings fit in? Besides, how do you date a ghost?

It's a sweet and deep romance about two characters negotiating their feelings for each other while life is doing everything to tear them apart. The characters have such mature conversations and, there's no reliance on the miscommunication trope at all. It explores the concept of mortality and how it gives life meaning through the eyes of both gods and humans. Despite finding no support among his kind, he's determined to help the humans, which sets him down an interesting course. There are lots of great twists in this novel, and I also loved seeing how queerness was worked in throughout both the immortal and mortal realms.
