"They can be real jerks sometimes, can't they?" she mumbled, then chuckled to herself bitterly- whether at the lingering echoes of the argument or at the fact that she was talking to a practically dead-to-the-world growing specimen in a tub of jelly that wasn't going to make it to even a fraction of maturity. And a part of her still hated that, hated these experiments despite how intriguing and groundbreaking they were, despite how she loved Cassie and despite how exciting the whole thing was. Or rather... it was the beginning stages. Keeping things alive tended to be so... so... fiddly. There was a reason Harper preferred to work with robotics.
At the very least, it wouldn't leave her talking to her projects whenever she's in a gloomy mood. She's not crazy enough to talk to machines just yet.

Merudoxin. Hearing that word should have made everyone grimace at the thought. It should have filled their body with pure anger to see women everywhere rave about the new drug; to see its name plastered all over the news. They told us it would make labour painless. They told us it would revolutionize childbirth. The only thing left to do was to test it. On us. Women everywhere were lining up at their local hospitals just waiting to get a taste of the drug. Conceitedly, they signed their names. Everyone was hoping the medicine would work. It was to be a major science breakthrough! But no one ever promised that the babies wouldn't get hurt. No one seemed to care about the endangerment of their lives. That's where I came in. A voice for the voiceless. I would never let a life be wasted, even if my own life became at risk. **Sneak Preview** The doctor took the baby in his hands and took a look himself. I heard him take a sharp intake of breath. "Bloody hell!" he exclaimed. "What should we do with her?" the surgeon asked. "We're going to have to get rid of it" he announced simply. I whipped my head towards Arturo. I began getting up, trying to end this tyranny but Arturo held me back and that's when I remembered where we were, who I was carrying inside me. I cried quietly as I watched the woman scream and whimper as she realised the fate of her child. And the fate of herself. The surgeon wheeled her inside a door followed by the Doctor with the baby. "You can't do this to us! Give me my baby!" she sobbed helplessly until she said in a quiet voice, "Let me hold her once". The doors closed before I could see if they fulfilled her last wish. Winnie was now trying to poke the apple to see if it would react to her the same way before nudging it to her friend and watching it heat up a little before Skyler pulled her hand away. "Winnie," she scolded really starting to freak out. "What? It was for science purposes. Multiple trials," Winnie responded. "What the hell is happening to me," Sky asked worried. "Maybe you have super powers," Winnie proposed. "Maybe I'm dying from some weird chemical reaction," Skyler pointed out. "Always so negative. Try to look on the up side sometimes," Winnie teased. "What if I'm dying," Skyler asked worried. "It was nice knowing you," Winnie said jokingly. That wasn't what the girl needed to hear. "Look," Winnie interjected realizing she wasn't helping, "You aren't dying. We can google it and find out what's going on I'm sure there's a reason." Sky nodded quietly. Murder Drones - Last Stand (Tessa x male reader)
Worker Drones are sentient robots created by a company called JcJenson with the purpose of revolutionizing multiple work fields. Let it be mining, transporting, or other types of services, these drones could (probably) do it. This was great for humans! A nine to five would quickly become a ten to four, while keeping, if not even increasing the pay. Yes, they were abused, but who would complain about it if it's just so goddamn profitable?! No one. No one would willingly go back to their nine to five. Only a small minority would speak out against it, seeing the worker drones as more than just objects to be used. If only everyone knew that humanity's behavior would also become its downfall... And then there is Y/N. A normal human, living in Germany. His strength is "computer stuff", as people call it, by which they mean coding. He also has other specialty's, like being lazy, the ability to have an excuse for (almost) everything, and staying undetected and blending into a crowd to a certain degree. Little does he know his life will quickly change because of a quirky australian girl and a group of silly drones. (Murder Drones is a YouTube series made by Liam Vickers and Glitch productions. If you're reading this book, I expect you to have watched it. If you haven't, go do it now. It's a great show, and free on top of that. I felt this strange- almost alluring feeling whenever I wore that sparkly and disgusting clip. It just took me in completely. It was like I was in a trance, a magical spell which made me do nice things to people which would never in my life be on my to-do list. As you can assume, I'm not nice. But fitting back into that normal life they missed so much is proving to be hard. Especially for Maya, who has a tendency to get herself in trouble and extraordinary situations ENTIRELY her fault. (She'd rather die than admit that of course) Old life brings the problem of boys, unwanted advances, homework, teachers and of course, a boyfriend with she had a rather uncharacteristic meet-up. Scott, Sed, Andy are her childhood friends all the way with her in this. Almost all the way. They didn't expect her to change or to come back at all and they are having a HARD time adjusting to the new Maya. She's dangerous, she's hot and she knows it.
