How do you tell your best friend you love them? How do you know they feel the same? How do you stop your heart getting broken in the process? Honestly, in a place, you feel comfortable with the other and just take the risk. You don't unless they are an open book of emotions. Hearts are made to be broken; if it's not by them someone else will break it somehow. This is a situation for two pairs of best friends separated by the decades... In 1950 Corinne goes on a month long trip with her family to the Madison businesses, taking an aching heart with her. Add a slightly secretive father, fainting mother, three brothers with two of them looking to take over the business and a serving girl Elsie, you get a relatively normal posh family. Corinne's childhood friend Callum carries an aching heart while she is away and misses her presence. Him, Corinne and a few others have been clueless about how they have always felt for each other, the others knowing all along. So when the others give him an opportunity, Callum tells Corinne how he feels after a card game threat and a surprise night visit from Corinne. In 2015 being in a military family is hard, which is what Dae and Dustin know first hand. The pair of them have a ridiculous amount of connections, few being known like how Dae's mother served with Dustin's father throughout deployments. Dae had always pushed Dustin away when he wanted to get closer. On the run up to Valentine's day Dustin has a grand plan in which he hopes Dae manages to see how he feels. Presents appear in her locker, her dad gets back from deployment with a companion she was certain was not breathing and then a gift bag which Smoke doesn't react to which makes her suspicious. With your mum being trained as a bomb dog handler that's natural right? Even her dad is in on the plan. Will Dustin leave with the heart he's always wanted or will he get turned away again? Ethan and Luca were inseparable as children-two boys who spent their summer days building forts, sharing secrets, and dreaming of a future that would never tear them apart. But when Ethan's family suddenly moves to another state, their once unbreakable bond starts to fade. The letters slow, the phone calls dwindle, and soon, childhood promises give way to the inevitable distance that time creates. Years later, fate steps in when they are unexpectedly reunited as roommates during their sophomore year of college. Both have changed-Ethan is now a confident, outgoing athlete, while Luca has grown more reserved, preferring the solitude of his studies. Old memories resurface as they struggle to find common ground in the midst of their new lives. What begins as a tentative reconnection evolves into a friendship neither of them realized they still needed. But as the months go by, unspoken feelings rise to the surface. Ethan can't help but notice how much Luca has changed-and how deeply he's drawn to him in ways he doesn't fully understand. The more time they spend together, the more he questions if his feelings for Luca are more than just nostalgia for the boy he once knew. Meanwhile, Luca is grappling with his own confusion, unsure if what he feels for Ethan is just a longing for the past or the beginning of something more. As their bond strengthens, so does the tension between them, building toward a moment that will change everything. When Ethan finally confesses his feelings, Luca is forced to confront the truth he's been hiding from himself all along. In a story filled with slow-burn romance, emotional growth, and the intricacies of love and friendship. From childhood companions to star-crossed college roommates, Ethan and Luca's journey is a heartwarming and achingly tender exploration of friendship, loss, and the kind of love that spans both time and distance.
