Even in death, Clara, once again, had managed to wreak havoc on Lucas's and Max's relationship. By taking control of Lucas's mind and body, she manipulated Max into believing that Lucas thought that he had used his magic to create a fake mate bond, so he could take control of the pack and use Lucas as a toy, and she forced Lucas to reject him. Heartbroken by Lucas' far from true words, Max fled with Mason to Australia to start a new life. But Lucas has other plans, because he managed to kick Clara out of his head while seeing Max and Mason run away and was now looking for his mate and son.
After almost a year, his hopes were almost all shattered. Just when he thought everything was done for, something miraculous happened, and Lucas finds out that Max is in Australia. After hearing the relieving news, Lucas immediately set out for Australia.
But Max has his own struggles, as he always thinks about Lucas, and cries himself to sleep every night, no matter how hard he fights the tears. Mason, along with another serious thing, is his only will to live, but without Lucas, even that shred of willingness is slowly fading away.
