The year is 1916, and the place is Nigeria in the colonial era. Ayi is the first of her kind; a slave with the white man's skin and black African blood running through her veins. 
She faces a lifetime of constant rejection and spite from her friends and family members. The only ray of sunshine in her otherwise clouded skies is her best friend and first love, Trevor. When an unforeseen incident makes Ayi guilty of a murder crime against a white man, she has to run for her life and leave the village. 
Her travels take her to Bendel where she meets Efe, an adventurous pocket-picker from the Delta part of Nigeria. They become close friends and travel to Lagos in search of greener pastures. This is where Ayi meets Mr. Eugene; a scientist who is fascinated by her white skin. He decides to take her to London and carry out research on her skin. Once again, Ayi and Efe go on another journey to London.
London is where Ayi discovers who she really is and all she is capable of. Thanks to the help of the kind-hearted Mr. Eugene, she comes to understand the reason for her skin color and comes to love herself.  After all her years of seemingly unending struggles and upheavals, Ayi finally gets the happy ending that she deserves.All Rights Reserved
