I notice the glint of surprise in his eyes, as well as hurt. "Ni, please."
"What? What do you want me to say?"
"The truth."
"The truth hurts," he growls. He turns his icy glare to me. "You don't want to hear it."
Tears sting in my eyes, and I swallow them back. "I do-"
A shudder rips through him. I see the muscles in his jaw clench, teeth bared. It is as if this literally pains him, physically hurts to speak to me. My heart breaks to see him suffer, but I need to know what he has to say.
"I nearly killed you," he says. "You almost died, because of me."
