Leukas is a special girl. All her life she has known only one place: Hythe, a flying city, occupied only by women. All of them live a peaceful life in the skies, protected from everything, helped daily by ancient robots, there since ever. Up there, above the clouds, Leukas has never known storms. One day, a small planer crashes on the lower part of the island. For the first time, Leukas meets the outside world, and more importantly, a young boy, barely older than her, a passionate apprentice historian. He speaks another language that is unknown to the islanders, but little by little they get to know each other, and he teaches her that war and hunger threaten the world below with extinction. Through him, Leukas discovers a very old legend, and that she may have a role in all this.
