This isn't a story about Badgers or Biscuits or Tins despite the title, it's a story about a family- the Garretts.
Rachel and her brother Thomas grew up as child geniuses with strict parents who expected a lot. They grew to achieve top grades and successful careers- but not everything in life has one simple answer. Thomas struggles with money while his husband Lian is unable to work. Rachel tries to navigate life as a single parent after her fiancé Paul deserts her while she is pregnant with twins. But what happens when eleven-year-old Jessica and Joshua Garrett's father returns, finally wanting a part in their lives that they've never known?
This book discusses some things that I have little experience with and therefore this is not a place to learn factual information about certain types of people, I'm trying to educate myself with all topics this story covers but would be highly interested in sensitivity readers/advice givers who are gay/bi men, or have dyslexia, anxiety or a chronic illness/disability, as these are things that some of the characters in this story experience, whether outright explained or just in backstory not featured but explaining their life experiences. I am always trying to improve and I don't want to shy away from everything I don't personally experience because there is diversity in the world that I want to feature, but with that will probably come mistakes but I'd love for the opportunity to do better and make my characters as real as they can be.

Philip has a good life - his dad is basically his best friend, but he has a million other friends at school that are all a close second. He's confident he can get with the girl he's recently developed a crush on until he meets her best friend. John is lonely - he's trying to understand his daughter, but she has been more recently drifting away and he doesn't know if she needs help, or if he could even help her if she did. He wishes they could be a team, but she seems to prefer going solo. Alex is overworked - he barely has time for anything. Recently a single dad, he's constantly at the office, working longer hours to support his seven kids. Daniel, however, really couldn't care less about a career in football, he loves the game, but it's his dad's dream for him to go pro, not his own. At least not anymore. He spends most of his free time away from his house and hanging out at either the Thomas or the Copperfield house. He can't wait to go off to college with his friends and get away from his dad and the stupid little town he grew up in. How will things change for them over the next year? This will be a series of 4, but the other books will be spin-offs and can be read as stand-alone books. They will, however, be published in chronological order. Full warning, this book is much shorter than I intend on making the spin-offs. I was planning on writing book two as the first in the series but found myself needing more of a prequel to all three other books, and so I chose to write something from their high school years.
