There are many broken people in this world.
Some fight through it.
Some give up.
And some are on the verge of ending everything, leaving it all like a piece of trash on the side of a highway.
That's what Ellena Lake almost did.
But, that boy she met on the bridge that night, saved her, even from herself. So, he could 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙠𝙚.
"Hey Lake, your home is right here."
Her mind is clouded and blurry. The skin surrounding her eyes are swollen and puffy from crying so much. Crying away the painful thoughts she's kept in that all too sensitive head of hers.
It's so tall from up here, she thinks as she looks down from the rusty railing of the bridge. Wandering off from the place that she once called home felt like the only solution she had left to erase the persuasive conceptions engraved in her very own veins.
"Just do it Lake. Nothing is stopping you now. What are you waiting for?"
She closes her eyes, trying to find some sort of purpose before her body takes over. She could easily jump from this spot, any time, or right now. She could wait for days, or seconds until that tiny switch in her brain clicks off and she is no longer living.
There is no other place she'd rather be than right here. If she were to die, this is the sight she would want to see before she leaves this cruel, dirty world.
"This is it. It's over now. Let go."
She unconsciously feels her grip loosen on the railing as her body is on the verge of letting go. She doesn't hear the sound of tires screeching behind her, for she doesn't care.
"Wait!"
At last, she opens her eyes quicker that her heart could beat.

Nixon is the 3rd book in the Broken Series. (Ryan is the 1st, Brynn is the 2nd)
Nixon leaves rehab early because he can't deal with being there anymore. His sister Kelis finds someone in need of a roommate so he moves in with the girl and gives her his middle name, Lucas. He quickly becomes addicted to the girl and once he gets one taste he's done for. He warns her about his past, about his name, but she ignores all the red flags, not realizing exactly how intertwined she is with the people from his past. He becomes enamored with her, feels like she was made for him while still battling the demons of his past and soon it all becomes too much for him to handle. He makes a heartbreaking decision, thinking it's what's best for both of them and everything changes.
