The Battle of the Bands happens before the Fall Formal and the mane six defeat The Dazzlings without Sunset because she hasn't had her redemption arc yet. Sunset was still a bully during the Battle of the Bands but isn't crucial to the plot until the Fall Formal in which this story takes place.
