I laughed maniacally, "Nothing good comes from us. Don't you understand that?!"
His brown eyes looked straight into my hazel ones and spoke in a mere whisper, "I'm not giving up on us. You want to know why?" He paused and cupped my cheek in his hand, making my breath hitch inside my throat. He planted a soft kiss on my forehead before returning his gaze to me and continuing. "Because you save me from myself. And for that I will NEVER give up on us."

I was drowning. I knew that. I also knew that the hands around my throat, pushing me deeper into the river water was the cause. What I didn't know was who was drowning me and why. It hurt thinking.
