"I love your hair," he muttered into my ear. "It makes me think of fire," he drew in the cigarette, letting out a puff seconds later.
I bite my lips, unsure if it's a good or bad thing, "Sounds like a good thing?"
"No, Eve Owsinski. Fire burns." He stumps the cigarette in a tray.
"Oh."
"But you can burn me,"
He leans in, slightly kissing my lower lips, I could taste the cigarette in his breathe. " And my ashes will still love you."
I take his cold lips in, hoping that the actual fire heading for us doesn't destroy us.
