Saffron is a village girl content with filling the rest of her life reading book upon book, but the world has different plans for her. After an encounter with a mysterious stranger who claims to be her guardian angel - the legendary faeries tasked with protecting and advising the most elite mortals- Saffron is swept into the fantastical world of magic, monsters, and adventure.

On a conquest to save her kidnapped family, Saffron must team up with her insufferable "guardian angel"- Lochlan- to navigate a world she has only ever observed through pieces of paper. As the threat to Saffron's family and her livelihood mounts, Saffron begins to learn that her new life of violence and fear was not the effects of a mere bout of bad luck after all, but something much darker that has been brewing for centuries
