When he awakens in a morgue,  he realizes that he can no longer stomach blood and has nowhere to turn  for support. Milo's decision to turn to the first person he finds for support backfires when he misunderstands the significance of tattoos and turns a  vegan, dooming them both.  But just when Milo thinks things can't get any worse, his past comes back to haunt him in the form of an Egyptian deity from long ago,  powered by a mysterious sect of people wearing black hoods. As Milo struggles to understand their plans and what they mean for the world, he realizes that the stakes are higher than he could have ever imagined.
