Kai has been deaf for as long as he can remember. He went deaf when he was five. He even watched as his and Nya's parents were taken.
Now, twenty years old, Nya is a full ninja, both having full control of their elements early in life. Kai trains in secret with Wu as only Wu knows his disability. But Kai turns it into a strength.
