altschmerz: n. weariness with the same old issues that you've always had-the same boring flaws and anxieties you've been gnawing on for years, which leaves them soggy and tasteless and inert, with nothing interesting left to think about, nothing left to do but spit them out and wander off to the backyard, ready to dig up some fresher pain you might have buried long ago.
This was really fun to write as I chose to write this story in a style I read in but never wrote in, instead of my usual descriptive fantasy novels, I leaned more towards dystopian narratives, with more commentary and less visualisation. The word that Lady Celia so desperately tries to rid of was found from a source- namely the dictionary of obscure sorrows, an excellent place to go to when you want to find words to describe that feeling you never knew how to.

After another manic episode, Phoenix gets written off his parents' will, and he's trying to find a reason to keep living. Causing the end of the world and being the only one who can save the world wasn't exactly what he had in mind. Phoenix wasn't meant to have magical abilities, and he most definitely shouldn't have been able to make all the money in the world disappear just by thinking about it. To make matters worse, it came with a minor side effect: a disease called Gold fever. In other words, people started to turn into gold. Over the course of a single day, Phoenix becomes the most hated person in the world. As the economy collapses around them, only three of his friends are willing to stay by his side. Their job is to keep Phoenix alive while he tries to make money reappear and find a cure to Gold fever.
