Zafina Mellark thought she'd done the right thing volunteering for a girl she greatly adored even though it meant signing her life away and entering the glorified death lottery of Panem; The Hunger Games. Her plan was simple: wave, train, survive. She watched countless of these Games to know how it works and she's ready for it.

Or so she thought.

She didn't expect the strong attraction and suffocating sexual tension that sprung between her and a fellow tribute from District 2. She'd been caught off guard, but she won't let it take her down.

So with her wit, skills, unexpected friendships, and the butterflies in her stomach caused by a boy set on giving her pain in many unspeakable places and by many unspeakable ways, she must do everything she can to get out of the Hunger Games, get back home to her family, and avoid getting killed by the hands of bloodthirsty people in the arena.

Or maybe it's his kisses that would kill her first.

- You guys should remember this one, and you better. Jolene Kensington. - Haymitch announced, pressing his presentation forward to show the image of the young woman getting reaped. - Yeah, I remember. - Although Katniss wouldn't admit it out loud, she actually rooted for the girl while watching her games. - Good! Just like you, sweetheart, she's the first ever and only female victor of her district, 10. Very dear to the Capitol, they are devastated to see her going back into the games. - As the mentor explained, all three of them watched the footage of the girl looking directly into the camera, her delicate eyes shinning confidently as she displayed a smile. - What's her strategy? - Peeta asked, interested in knowing more about the girl who didn't look like much of threat from the outside, but probably shouldn't be underestimated according to Haymitch's description. - Despite being likeable? - Haymitch said sarcastically. - Well, surprisingly, she's very skilled at hand to hand combat. - Ok, that's easy, I can just take her out from afar with the bow then. - Katniss dismissed the problem, visibly relieved of knowing how to defeat at least one of the many strong opponents she would be going up against. - See, that's where you're wrong. - Haymitch casually cut off her suggestion, moving closer to sit on top of the coffee table and staring his two tributes in the eye. - You're not gonna fight her, you're gonna ally with her. When I was eleven. My whole world changed. Katniss' dad died in a mining accident. You think it wouldn't affect me but I loved him just as much as Katniss did. Maybe even more than I loved my own father. I felt bad, that my own dad couldn't compare to Katniss'. He loved me too though. Loved me like his own. The day he died was the first in a long line of times I have ever seen Katniss cry. She never cried before then but she cried a lot after. Katniss' mother was suppose to get a job after his passing, she didn't. They were starving, dying. I decided to help. After school I would drag Katniss into the woods by her feet. We'd never gone in there without her father. It seemed like a scarier place without him. After some time it wasn't so scary. I don't know what made me volunteer for Katniss. When I heard her name echo throughout the crowd my heart stopped. It wasn't my name, but it was my best friends. There was no way she could survive in there. She had a family, a sister to take care of. I thought my parents could live without me. The name Effie called next was the only name I prayed and prayed I would never hear her say. Peeta Mellark. My name is Catora Melane and I'm in 74th Annual Hunger Games. Hunger games Fanfic Peeta Fanfic #1 Arrows in the Dark #2 Blaze #3 Hijacked
