In 2038, Alterra Robotics discovers a portal to a world untouched by modern industry, rich with magic, ancient creatures, and civilizations that have never heard of a megacorporation. To conquer this untouched land and resources, they deployed hundreds of thousands of androids as they slowly entrenched themselves in the world's history, undoubtedly changing the trajectory of their future. Alongside them are android inspectors-human employee who are tasked to evaluate their robotic workforces. Kusunoki Sakuta, one of Alterra's top android inspectors, is reassigned to Vernheit: a European-inspired nation on the continent of Caelum, home to Eisen Blut, Alterra's oldest and most powerful subsidiary. His job is straightforward. Evaluate the androids. Assess their performance, their mental stability, their physical condition. File the report. Go home. Most inspectors do exactly that. But Sakuta treated them as more than walking humanoid constructs. It's a habit that's earned him a reputation-and, apparently, a reassignment to one of the most politically significant postings on the continent. Alongside his corporate duty, he will also learn that... ... Perhaps being transported to an alternate fantasy world isn't as easy as it sounds.
