I'm sure that sometime in your life, you've had to write a book report.
There are usually two ways to go about this. The simple, and, if I may, the boring way, where you pick up the book you're studying in school, scrawl a couple of paragraphs on a chart, stick a few pictures and boom, you're done.
Then, of course, there's the second way, where you actually spend time and effort... to create a mind-shattering, boring presentation.
A certain character doesn't want to do either. Instead, as they (go ahead and imagine the character as anyone) choose a rather... interesting novel, English class just got way more awesome.
A short story, based on the antics of a book report that goes completely wrong!

Evelyn Sheer and the researchers are trying to create a genetic modification that enables humans to photosynthesize. Once in the facility, Evita is tagged as a test subject and loses all say over what happens to her body. She has to escape. By the time she comes up with a plan there is only one problem. I lost myself somewhere between space and time. I repeated my name over and over, refusing to leave myself behind. But the more I decintigrated, the more of myself I lost, until everything, my name, Timmy's smile, even my parents were forgotten. I found nothing but black space and white silence. The Daylight Room and other short stories
'You should write a story about that.' It's a line that writers hear a lot, a bit like comedians in a bar being told. 'Here's a joke for you.' Best to smile politely and change the subject or get a round in. There are occasions when I didn't do either, and there will be occasions I don't do that in the future. These stories are and will be the result. I also include the background to the story for the curious but I'll keep the identities secret. I don't want you chasing them down in search of ideas for your next novel. :) The Daylight Room: A very young boy understands that what he did was wrong. What he doesn't understand is that the punishment is much, much wronger.
