After Max's difficulties at home, he is shown throughout the camp camp series to have a very pitiful personality.
But when it's the last week of camp, David seems to notice some strange emotions that come from Max. So in order for David to recognize Max's emotions and how he feels, he must look out for him at all times.
While Max, yet still has trouble opening up to the one person who genuinely seems to care about him.
