Code, RiverClan apprentice Frostpaw and her sister are all they have now after their Mother was killed in a battle and they never knew who their Dad was. Meanwhile young WindClan medicine cat apprentice Otterpaw struggles to memorize herbs and stay on track, while her brother Stonepaw is a warrior apprentice, but when special circumstances force the apprentices to come together and solve the mystery of a recent murder, they don't like what they find.

The dream has a prophecy that states: Five cats, Frozen Storm, Birch Oaks, and Blowing feathers, chosen by Starclan must save the Forest, the Night, the Water, and the Sun from the destruction of Black Ashes and Golden wings. Snowpaw has to figure out what this prophecy means and save the four clans from the destruction of Black Ashes and Golden Wings.
