This will be after Conan turned to Shinichi and part of the Black organization has been taken down but the ones who are targeting kaito are still working as dangerous as ever

Kaito may be a little... depressed. Shinichi too. No spoilers! 
Ran has forgiven Shinichi in this as well and are friends (much to Sonoko's disappointment ) Things still get a little rocky between them due to all that happened.
Kaitou KID disappeared for some time after helping Conan return back to Shinichi but this story is after he starts heists again
