The whole world was spinning around Lara, her breath gone long ago. She was shaking uncontrollably, trying to grab onto something to keep standing, but she couldn't. She just needed something, someone, just...
"Please, look at me" a warm hand was touching her cheek. It was delicate, rubbing the skin slightly and Lara sobbed even louder, but held onto the hand like a lifeline "Lara, I know it's hard, but please, look me in the eyes."
She tried to. She lifted her heavy eyelids and looked straight into Kai's brown pupils. The latter leaned in closer and connected their lips, not hungrily, but as if Lara was a fragile porcelain right now.
"It's okay, love. We are free" she whispered between the kisses. The gun fell to the ground with a loud thud.
