Marinette Xiannong is the princess of Beijing- China, well known for her beauty and kindness. The palace has gotten her and her maidens tired. They want to leave the cruel place they call home, but princesses, their maidens and concubines are prisoners for life. The only way of a female leaving the palace is death, to be executed by drinking poison. Marinette sorts out a plan and decides to escape the palace on her 16th birthday with her maidservants, her private guard, her bother, her villager friend, using the owner of ships boat, Kim LeChien. They want to run away to 'the other side', away from Asia. They find themselves in Gotham City and decided to live there since it wont be too obvious. . . but will the princess of Beijing and her brother, Hunan, be able to hide from the royals who are looking for them, even with the protection of the richest family?
