The crew of the Enterprise are invited to a holodeck murder mystery birthday party in honour of Data.

Everyone is thrilled about the prospect of spending shore leave engaged in a thrilling murder mystery. Set at a large fictional manor house they attempt to solve the mystery written in the holodeck program.

But it soon becomes apparent things are not quite what they seem. There's something about the butler that's familiar and unwelcome. Neither Captain Picard nor Guinan can quite put a finger on it.
