Valkyrie and Kaladin are holder of conduits, advanced pieces of mysterious technology that allow them to transform into the heros Lyca and Vulpine.
Together they defend thier city from Marvos-Libel, a rouge conduit user who uses his power for evil, hell bent on acquiring other Conduits for an unknown agenda.
This is book one of the series entitled "FrostWalker" be warned, the story is dark and often features pretty graphic descriptions of violence as its set in a realistic world.
