Well, if you consider living in the sewers for the first 14 years of your life, not being able to go outside to the surface at all, and living with your four (adoptive) older brothers and (adoptive) father,  normal, then good for you? 

Oh, and did I mention that your brothers were giant mutant turtles and your father was a giant humanoid rat that taught you all the way of the ninja. 

No? Well yeah, that's your life. 

And it was all good until you and your brothers finally went up to the surface. 

Well thanks to that your now tied into a big loop of up and down experiences.
