The Ancient World Order is a complex tale of feudal politics, religion, conspiracy and war. It hasn't been more than fifteen years since the Empire almost succumbed in the War of Brothers. And yet again, the scourge of war spreads across the world. At the death of late Emperor Ulric, lord Wilfred Mandos, the hero who saved the Empire, gets summoned to the Capital of Avenheim, for his appointment to the office of Imperial Chancellor. As Wilfred arrives at Avenheim, he discovers that his old enemies haven't forgiven him for their humiliation in the war. They have already made the first move against his family. Not used to Capital politics, Wilfred stands alone as he finds no help from those he once considered his friends. To ensure his house's survival, Wilfred has to outmanoeuvre both the fanatical Church of Magnus and the ambitious rival house Morg, the Empress family. Meanwhile, across the great Oceanic, to the North, Sven the Clanless, strives to get revenge against the Black Mane tribe. As he does, he disturbs the fragile peace between his uncle, Chieftain Ivar the Bull and savage nomad tribe. And to the South, the mighty warrior tribe Darma, from the Grand Steppes, ravages through trade cities along the Oval Coast. It won't be long until they reach the desert of the Great Sands. Sash Tahej and his brother, Sahej, struggle to unite the clans to meet this threat.
