Valentina Grimmstad was born in Fjerdan whose father was a well-recognised Druskelle. In fear, Olsen Grimmstad makes the fatal decision to escape with he's daughter for a better life in Ketterdam. However, he's venture into the unsea leaves Valentina an orphan. Found by officers of the Ravkan First Army, Valentina is sent to live in one of the many orphanages that house orphans and war widowers. But her nationality and surname makes her the a foreigner and an enemy in the eyes of her bullies and tormentors causing her to have to grow up fast and have thick skin.

In order to escape the fate of the fold that took her family away from her, Valentina becomes a cartographer where she meets Alina Starkov, a half Shu Han girl. While, her life seems to have calmed the storm. It won't be long until an unexpected cause forces her into the fold. Where the awakening of a mysterious power causes her life to be capsized from beneath her. For Valentina, she begins to question who is truly a friend and who actually her foe.
