The world was once protected by God-like beings. Every two hundred years a new guardian would be reborn. No one knows how they came to be but many have theories of powerful beings creating them, mystical creatures from heaven, cursed beings forced to protect, etc.

But after the fourth guardian was gone, the fifth guardian was never reborn. After that everyone thinks the guardians were just myths, legends to never be brought up again.

Although when a certain human boy stumbles upon a couple of statues, his whole life and world around him changes.
