Eight children are hidden in the Anderson foster house of Castleton, Vermont. Their foster mother Clare is a promiscuous, horrifying, abusive woman who has no love for the children whatsoever. When Jenny comes into the home, challenging Clare's actions, Noah, a boy who thought his only purpose was to take care of the younger children, is entranced by Jenny's beauty and courage.
