Ares, the god of war, created the country of Simul. Inside Simul are 10 kingdoms. Pax, Malum, Amare, Genus, Fortem, Captiosus, Periculum, Lacrimae, Mendacium, and Veritas. In doing so, creating thousands of lives and opportunities. For this, Ares put a curse on all 10 kingdoms, as a way to pay him back for his kindness. Every 15 years, one child from each royal bloodline in all the kingdoms are voted into The Race for the Crown by the citizens. They will compete in 9 challenges, until one child is pronounced the winner.
Bela Howard is chosen for the race, and it's already a challenge from day one. She meets a boy named Alistair Dalton, and they immediately hate each other. Perfect. Better to hate the competition then to fall in love with them, right?
