Zehra laughed, her laughter carrying the sound to the bells above that twinkled, yet he heard the sinister woes behind the beautiful sounds and he was aware she had disappeared into the darkened halls, her voice chiming back to him.
"Good luck, soldier. You're gonna need it. There are twelve of us...and one of you."

There is an old tale of a king who had twelve beautiful daughters, who often disappeared during the night, coming to in the morning, worn out, their clothes and shoes worn down by the elements and no matter how many keep an eye on them...it remains a mystery.

A mystery that the king wants solved.

Cassian Athorp, a returning soldier heading home after fighting on the battlefields of Alothmore, is ready to return to his grieving family until a passing invitation from the king sets him on a path that leads to dangerous and wicked events. Invited for a chance to win the favour of the king, Cassian accepts the King's deal. Figure out the princesses secrets like many suitors before had and you can have whatever your heart desires.

Princess Zehra has a secret. A secret along with her sisters, she'll do anything to keep. And an old friend returning from war with the skills to do whatever it takes and igniting old feelings, won't stop her from doing whatever it takes.

{COMPLETED} The stars disappeared seventeen years ago. A black night sky has mirrored a bleak existence for the people of Auros. The Gifted, humans with unique abilities to affect the world around them, have all but become extinct thanks to the dark reign of a usurper. And somehow Zephyr Elvy has managed to live her nineteen years in the blissful quiet of a small town next to the sea. Zephyr has always been content to keep to herself, and happy to live a simple, if uneventful, life. If only the universe had that in mind for her. Forced to flee the only place she has ever called home, Zephyr finds herself running through a world she has only ever read about, along with two soldiers who have deserted their posts to keep their consciences clean. With only a letter and a mysterious weapon as clues to why she's being hunted, Zephyr must face her own fears while discovering a whole new world of terrors at the hands of a queen she knows next to nothing about. Having never risked anything her entire life, Zephyr is forced to choose between apathy or action, hiding and keeping to herself, as she has always done, or taking a leap that could change the world she is just now getting to see. ***** Thank you SO MUCH for reading! I'm updating every Monday until this story is done, and I've been sitting on this one for almost three years so I'm really excited to finish it! I don't have any beta readers for this as I write, so please let me know if you notice anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that needs fixing! :)

***WINNER of the "BREATHTAKING: A FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL WRITING COMPETITION!" "You are a secret kept from the world, but not from me." So begins the peculiar message found slipped under a bedroom door on the morning of May first. Theo is the heir to a powerful dictatorship. The number of people allowed to know he exists is few. He has spent his entire life walled up in the Tower, the looming stone monolith from which his father rules over the Land. Merryn is the daughter of political prisoners. She's known who Theo is longer than he would think possible, and she is taking a great risk contacting him via handwritten notes in order to convince him he deserves more than the fate his father has designed for him. She has one month to exchange daily messages with him, to answer his questions and open his eyes to the realities of a world he has never been allowed to see. A revolution is coming to the Land at the end of the month, and if Merryn's notes fail to get their point across, Theo may never live to see the sunrise on June first. A/N: The following letters were originally published each day from May 1st-31st, 2014. As you will see,Theo is allowed to write down a question for Merryn each evening, but you, the reader, won't see these within the body of the story. It may or may not be obvious from Merryn's response what Theo is asking. Part of the fun is guessing what his questions might be, but if you really want to know what they are, a list of those questions is at the end of the story. This story is a re-imagining of Rapunzel. Now, without further ado-I believe a young heir is about to unfold a slip of paper found on the tile floor near his door... Let's see what it says!

"I don't want your crown," he murmured, "just the parts of you you've never given away." He kissed her like he meant it. Lied to her like he didn't. ⚔︎⚔︎⚔︎ Once upon a time, in the mist-laced hills of the Gilded Kingdom, a princess was born - not merely to rule, but to become the greatest queen Aurelia had ever known. Raised behind the palace walls she was taught to walk with grace, speak with poise, and bury herself in the ancient tomes of the Great Library. But what becomes of a princess who dreams not of silk gowns, but steel blades? Who craves not a throne beside a king, but the freedom to forge her own fate? When the time comes to select her consort through the age-old contest, Lydia finds herself suffocating in a world of masks and manners. Among the peacocks of polished nobility that now swarm her home, she must navigate deception, ambition, and perhaps, the stirrings of something far more dangerous than politics. As snow falls red upon the palace grounds, whispers stir from the far reaches of the world. The Nine Kingdoms are rising. And destiny - long buried in blood and prophecy - begins to awaken. Lydia's path will lead her to a choice that could shatter her crown, her heart, and the very foundations of her realm. Her hand is at stake. The prize is her kingdom. Because when fairytales end... only steel remains. #1 of The Gilded Kingdom series
