A world where nobody has roots and everyone is doomed to eternal sadness. 

Mara has received a final notice from the Marriage Council and she has no way around it. 

Despite the bribes that Luca has been feeding people that work in the Marriage Council, he seems to have no way around it when he receives the final notice. 

When two people get married in Brónach, they are wished a very miserable life, as is everyone and anyone. Despite their wretched fates, will Mara and Luca live a life in eternal gloom? Or is their a chance of happiness in their lives, or even love?
