"To love and feel loved is to feel the sun from both sides" -------- Lillie-May Keeves has known two things in her life: she could not ever love, and the only boy she ever got close to loving had left her. Tommy Romero was Lillie's only constant in life since the age of three. He was her co-conspirator in every summer spent chasing tides and gathering wildflowers. That was until he mysteriously vanished from Carpinteria, California. It was a cold August night that left no explanation for why he left. Three years later, the Romeros come back to town to spend the summer. Tommy, being nearly eighteen, realizes that this is the last time he'll see Lillie before he returns to North Carolina for the unforeseen future. There are two things that he must tell her: what happened that August night, and that he loves her.
