I don't expect you to. Just forgive me, if I distance myself sometimes. I don't do it to hurt you, or to be spiteful. I do it, so I don't say or do something I'll regret. "
Laurence finally takes a breath and halts his rambling, looking up to meet her eyes.
She stares at him, mouth slightly agape in shock. She definitely wasn't expecting Laurence to confess these feelings, and she definitely didn't expect her heart to flutter at them.
Before she could utter a single word, Laurence placed his hands gently upon her cheeks and stared straight into her eyes. Her face immediately switched from an expression of shock to one of confusion.
"I'm sorry..."
Hope looked even more confused at his apology. But then realisation fell upon her ... but it was too late.
"I want you to forget this conversation. Forget I was here." He paused and observed her dazed expression and soothingly caressed her cheek. The left side of his lips slightly raised so that some may think it was a smirk but was just a trait he adapted from his father.
"I want you to have such a fulfilling future... and most importantly I want you to find your epic love."
He gently removed his hands, placed a light kiss on her cheek, and left with a last glance at Hope's gorgeous complexion.
Hope was disoriented as she found herself in her room, trying to grasp an idea of what she was previously doing. She suddenly felt mentally exhausted and so tired. She got into bed and rested her head on her pillow. She closed her eyes with her best friend's name on the tip of her tongue, mumbling just as sleep overcame her.
