Without a plan he just heads off in a random direction which leads him to the Sand Village where he meets Kat, the caring, fun, banana hating ninja who adopts him. Just when he thinks he might be able to live in peace the Hokage requests he return to the Leaf and after so negotiating the two villages have shared custody over him.
