This is a world where almost everyone is born naturally evolved to be a better fighter. These means they either are able to develop more muscle faster, or are just naturally stronger. Or maybe they're faster. Either way, they are a better fighter. Period. After someone has gone through their general education for a good couple of years, stopping after what would be their freshman year in our world, they go to a fighter school; usually. Not always of course. From there they get their fighter license, and are permitted to patrol the city and stop criminals. But this isn't the life for everyone. No, it's the usual course of life for only 87% of the population.
The rest of the population, 13%, are called 'sticks.' A lot of people see them as useless, weak, stupid, and think they have no role in society. This story follows the path and the life of Samuel Houghstone, a 'stick' who made it into the Institute for Fighters and the Future, or IFF, the most prestigious highschool and training grounds for aspiring fighters, technicians, and business people alike.
