This is the first instalment of my story about a society where, after a devastating war, the remaining citizens are divided into those who want to preserve civilisation and those who feel there is nothing left in it and want to live like animals. A wall separates the two into Civilised people and Primitive people: 'Civils' and 'Prims'. Over the wall is a dangerous place, with no rules and a merciless food chain, yet the civilised side is no better.
Our currently unnamed protagonist begins to wonder if she is content to live in hunger and unhappiness on her side. Will she decide to discard her humanity?
