Christmas.
Julie Rivers always associated it with happiness and cheer, but one year it took a dark turn. Her mom left a month before Christmas. She didn't leave a note or tell anyone she was leaving. She just packed up her bags one night and left.

When he was nine and she was four, their house burned down. He had carried her out of the flames. Their family hadn't been so lucky. They barely escaped. Brad's older sister was burned badly and his parents almost died. They would have, if it hadn't been for the firefighters. Brad always blamed himself for not saving them all.

The leaving. It was hard, tragic , painful, yet it had to be done, I needed to save my life.
