When you look on social media or on TV, you will always see people putting their opinions out there for the world to hear. Whether it's about sports, politics, etc. But one thing you will hear on the news is Social justice. You'll see these people speaking out on the mistreatment towards people of color and fight for their rights. But do you ever wonder what it is like for those who can't voice their opinion? Do you think about those people who are in worse situations than what you might see in the news. Yeah it's all bad, but try living in places were people will treat you any way they want to. In this story, it follows along two different people with two different backgrounds. Brad, who is a white kid born to wealth and has had a pretty get life. Then there's J, a black guy who is struggling with trying to keep his family safe. This story is full of betrayal, love, drugs, parties, and racism.

Side note: if you are sensitive to the subject of racism, this is not for you.

I'm not here to write a romance with a happy ending, I'm writing to prove life isn't always perfect, in most cases it never is, especially when it comes to love. This is to prove that no matter how hard life gets, don't give up, don't push people away, stand up and show whoever or what ever it is that you aren't going to let them or it hinder who you are. Life is precious and we need to live it as we want to be, not as other people want us to be. Jane has been an outcast her entire life, she was orphaned at a young age and grew up without a family. When she turned 11, the Mavery's adopted her, for the past 6 years of her life she's been stuck living in their attic. They don't treat her like part of the family. Her stuck up step-mother Ana only ever points out her flaws, and Neal her step-father doesn't stop her. You'd think that would be enough to drive anyone over the edge, but now add the little 'brats' that torment her constantly. Cortlyn and Oscar. Cortlyn has always been jealous of Jane and her friendship with Adam, the boy next door. Oscar actually likes having another sister, but he always sides with his twin, he'd never admit to it. And Adam? He loves Jane, like loves, loves Jane, but of course she's completely clueless, after all it is her best friend...her only friend. But the real trouble starts when Jane finally stands up for her self, what's this crazy family going to do to her next? Like I said before life isn't perfect, you never know what's going to be thrown your way, neither does Jane.

Friendless and timid, Guinevere is stuck in her socially anxious shadow, content to let her sister lead and live a sheltered life. Without Natalie pushing her to break out of her comfort zone, she'd be trapped in fear. The world is scary, even her own family conflicts terrify her; she needs Natalie's support. But what happens when Natalie, her big sister, her mentor and only real friend, suddenly can't be there for every moment of her life? Lola, raised to be a hardworking farmer, when all she wants is a bit of agency over her life, the freedom to do what she wants. And yet, she is perfectly willing to let Natalie handle conversations for her. For as much as she wants to be free, she wouldn't know what to do with herself, get meticulously caught up in planning the details and never end up doing anything. And Natalie, who has no personal desires, simply living in moments and finding the best in whatever is going on. Freely engaging with her friends and helping them, as she lacks her own internal drive, the self awareness to know what she wants. After a long childhood struggle with her self esteem and valuing herself, that has become what she "needs," her coping strategy with rough situations. Being complacent with what happens to her and simply accepting, with no real goals of her own, no idea that her friends are just as directionless as she is. When health complications arise for her, and her friend group is falling apart around her as she can't guide them, she'll have to ask the essential questions that she can't simply answer in a quick sentence. The questions that she has long dismissed as unimportant. Is this what she truly wants, to be solely fulfilled by everyone else depending on her for support? And where does she draw the line? This story touches on potentially triggering content, including the use of slurs, toxic family relationships, anxiety, anger, and death. Any real people, brands or places are only used to further realize the environment.

Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same. There's always a change, an altering of reality. When you meet those people, the reality that you've known your whole life is suddenly gone and a new one has taken its place. When those moments happen, there's no going back. You can try to return to the way things were but nothing, and I mean nothing, can take you back to exactly how it was. That's what happened to us. I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy. Four years later and we're still on the ground, crawling, in search of the happiness that was lost that June. Summers will never be the same. Midnight walks through my neighborhood will never be the same. Field parties with bonfires and loud music will never be the same. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of. But in some ways, I'm glad you're not a part of it. I just wish it wasn't like this. *** TRIGGER WARNING*** SA, abuse, suicide, substance abuse, and mental illness. This is a complete story that is much like life; fast, full of surprises, and not always how we want it to be. This has been a project of mine for over three years. It was self-published on Amazon, but after some issues in publication, I decided to just upload it on here. I hope you fall in love with these characters like I have. The friends in this story are trying to make names for themselves, figure out who they are, who they can trust, how to love, and how to separate themselves from a restrictive community. As in any coming of age story, they will experience growing pains... but will they survive them before its too late? PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS.

"You had no right to do that," I snap, trying my best to out walk him. His chuckle was loud behind me and his hand griped on my forearm, stopping me. Something about his warmth gave me chills all over my body. Something I don't think I ever wanted in the first place. Especially from him and especially now. "Yes I did, and I still do." His hard grip around my arm loosened, and snaked up to lock his fingers through my hair. Oh Momma, what is happening? Being this close to him has been happening way too often for normal. Still, I couldn't break away from this close contact, I was frozen, shocked. "What makes you think that?" My question hit him with humor, and instead of fully responding, he leans his face closer to mine. The smirk on his face stayed once he noticed the affect he had on me. "Because," he whispers out pressing our bodies together. "I'm your Secret Santa," he licks his lips as if he's hungry, then continues, "I can give you anything I want to give you." His free arm wraps around my waist, and he lifts me up during the action before pressing our lips together. The main character is Kimberly. She's an accident prone person who wants nothing but to enjoy her winter. Her friends want the best for her after a terrible break up they witnessed. Every year they all hold the traditional Secret Santa. Somebody from the group believes that they are what Kimberly needs. This is about Kimberly and her crazy winter story about her not so Secret Santa.
