In the Hunger Games, Clove and Cato are given no backstory. Nothing. All the readers know that they hate Katniss Everdeen...why? What is the history of the 74th Hunger Games District 2 Tributes? What happens "behind the scenes"?
Cato Hadley was District 2's golden boy. His family has produced the longest line of Hunger Games Winners, each of the offspring volunteering to risk it all in the games.
Clove Kentwell earned her spot in everything. Her family was poor, desperate for any type of wealth. All Clove wanted was a chance to prove herself, and she did...many many times.
The 74th Annual Hunger Games give the pair something they have wished for their whole life, something they gave hours to train for: Glory. Praise. Eternal Spotlight in the Eyes of the Capitol.
And the odds were in Cato and Cloves favor, them having both attended an elite training Academy, the odds WERE in their favor...until Katniss Everdeen showed up
