This man was a master. He deftly sidesteps her attempts to stroke his ego or flatter him. He didn't need or want to hear it like the other men did. When talking of his work, he minimized. When discussing money he'd quickly move on. He didn't desire her approval or validation, and seemed to shun her attempts to provide it. As she began to become more and more enamored with this man, reality quickly set in. She wasn't a student. She was no young mind realizing her goals in an Ivey league university. She was a fucking waitress who had just escaped a broken home, and no real ambition currently other than her own survival. This wasn't the beginning of some whirlwind romance ending in happily ever after. No matter how enticing that sounds it's just not in the cards. It was too bad, too. What, was she gonna come clean? No. She was going to do what she came here to do. And she was gonna do it now, before the warm haze of the booze, the company and the conversation clouded her judgement

Red Lilac

After five years and a thousand regrets, two old lovers meet again.. "What kind of stunt are you pulling out this time?" I see his eyes blaze in blue fire. And I think I saw regret flash, too, before he blinks it gone. "I am going to win you back." he states as if those are the most natural thing in the world. As if it was as easy as ABC. He went behind his table and sits like a king. He looks at me from head to toe. Did I just saw love in those eyes? But it's too quick; I even thought I only imagined it. "And do you think, buying the company I am working at will help you with your fucking mission on Earth?" I snap taking two steps forward. He stands up, and put both of his hands in the table and lean his body closer to me, putting his weight on his palms. So close, I can even smell his cologne that mixed so naturally with his aftershave. It reminds me of summer. Of him. Of the love we'd shared.
