A young (both 17) boy and girl bond over a situation that could have had an unfortunate ending.
Note:
There was a six page (google docs) limit for this short, so I had to get creative with my writing. You'll notice that Dylan's portion of the piece is written entirely in present-tense, whilst Olivia's is in past-tense. This gives a necessary separation of voices in the story, as there wasn't much space (or time, for that matter!) to create deep character descriptions and personalities.

"You have to tell me everything," he said and released my hand. Stupid man, he did that on purpose. "You have no power over me. I don't owe you shit," before I could say anything more, he pinned me onto the bed and wrapped his other hand around my neck. "Who are you?" the boy asked. His eyes are wide, full of adrenaline and glowing red. I feel something else from him, something very few people feel during their lives as vampires. I feel compassion. This boy does not want to attack, he simply wants to protect. He wants to protect her. I smile at his naivety. There is no room for compassion and love in the vampire world. It is every person for themselves. If only I wasn't so hypocritical. My sole purpose for being in Seattle is to feel that warmness of love again. Ever since I turned, all I have known is bitter coldness. I don't want that for myself anymore. "I'm Bree." Her voice startles me. "We don't want to fight. We want to know why you are here." Loves Me Not
"I may not remember much, but I do know that I had the best time with you last night." Charlie drops his hand from his mouth and lifts his head to stare into my eyes, pushing his hair back from his face at the same time. "And I know this is awkward now, because I'm pretty sure we were both naked together in bed last night..." I choke on air, trying to dispel the imaginary object from my throat. Charlie reaches out and lightly grasps my hand; my eyes slide from our interlocked fingers to his shining pupils. "...but I still wouldn't change a single thing about it. So, I really do look forward to hearing from you later, Kaiydeen." It's like I've been taken hostage by his electric stare. I don't want to look away. I never want to look away. The busy noises of the street and the honking of the traffic fade as I lose focus, nothing strong enough to force my attention away from this boy. Finally, Archer loudly clears his throat as he flings his door open and plops into the car with a huff, breaking the trance between the two of us. I look away as I withdraw my hand from his grasp, trying to figure out what the hell just happened. This is going to be a long 6 months. ●●● Kaiydeen has always known what she wanted, more like who, but she never knew exactly how to get it. So she's complacent with biding her time until it, actually he, comes to her; no matter how long that takes. But then one day she crashes into someone she doesn't expect. Someone that has always had an eye for her, and he isn't satisfied with biding his time until she's his. But when the one person she's always wanted admits he wants her, too, she's forced to make a choice. Should she go for the boy she just met or the boy she's always known? There is some use of mature language in this story, so if your eyes are innocent and you want them to stay that way this might not be the story for you.
