After a nuclear disaster known as "The Cleansing" caused a massive thinning of the Earth's population. The remaining humanity had to survive, not just against the toxic environment they once called home but also against the combined forces of nature and mistakes of men; a rising species of mutated animals and humans.

For years after "The Cleansing," humanity conquered the hollow Earth, with civilizations rising one after the other. The Philippines, also known as the Island of Pearls, is an archipelago off the coast of the Pacific Ocean, also coined as the Prolific Sea after the ocean evolved and adapted to the noxious threat of the nuclear apocalypse and retained its lush and fruitful resources. Because of this, the Island of Pearls became a valuable resource to be mined, colonized before, then colonized again after years of independence.

Along with the plans of invasion were harsh testing, abductions, and killings. In order to discover the true riches of the Island of Pearls; they were known as agimats, a Filipino word for "amulet" or "charm," that had been graced by the gods for use by those with no tainted blood, sometimes known as "Indios" or "pure-blooded". Each agimats were bestowed with powers by the deities that once protected the land of the Island of Pearls, and can only be used once they are worn by those who were chosen by the gods themselves.

There, humanity found that the foes aren't just the mutated; men have always fought against men and will continue to do so. Will those who have been blessed by the gods be able to put an end to the conflict? or will they fall victim to it as well?

Magic: amazing, powerful, extravagant, mysterious necessary for the survival of the universe,... and ridiculously difficult to learn. Without a proper teacher, you could never even reach for the lowest hem of your own true Mage's Robe; that's the common knowledge of how Arcata, the once-great Mageocracy that ruled enough of the civilized world to call themselves the Dominant Political and Military Force on the Planet Nonith, came to be. With the decline of Mages, however, as the elder mages die out without any promising students, the memory and knowledge of magic became duller and duller with every passing generation, and the Ultimate Mageocracy itself faded alongside it. Muradin, Deity of Magic, finds themself running out of options, trying desperately to grip the fraying threads of their home dimension, delaying the inevitable as long as possible as they do the work of hundreds of thousands of mages, supplying the Mana that holds the dimension together... until one bronze-haired opportunity shows herself to them, and they find themselves in the unique position to perhaps fix everything, with only a small investment of time and energy to kick off the chain reaction... with a dose of some good old fashioned, ever-dependable, elitist mercantilism to fill in the gaps. Laura 'Morgana' D'Artagnan is a certified expert on all magics, from conjuration to artificing, enchanting, and even divine magic. Well, as far as the Arcana from Dungeons and Dragons is concerned, at least. After all, she makes and sells custom spell cards, monster cards, and custom Pre-made One-Shot Modules for dungeon masters all across the world, one hand-made batch and *edEx package at a time. To see one of them suddenly *work*, though, is the start of the craziest campaign that she's *ever* seen.

Centuries after the Fall, the United States has been wiped away. The crumbling remains of the great American empire are home now only to savage, lawless tribes and packs of ravening Damned-the twisted children of the apocalypse. Most of those few who survived humanity's destruction spend their short lives in a violent struggle for survival. But some light still flickers in the darkness: the Blessed of Bountiful live in seclusion, relying on walls both physical and spiritual to protect them from the Desolation that their world has become. Among them are the Saints, those few men and women born with superhuman abilities that the Blessed see as gifts from God. The violent apostate tribes of the Northeast Kingdom have always been a danger, but up until recently its small size and the vigilance of its people have made Bountiful an unappealing target. As attacks on the community grow harsher and more frequent, however, even the steadfast Blessed are forced to start preparing for the worst. With her home's very existence threatened, seventeen year old Ever Oaks, a Saint with the power to heal, is forced to make a difficult choice, one that may come to define her people's future... Exile was a semi-finalist in Mark Lawrence's Great Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off (#SPFBO). Fantasy Faction said it was "extremely cool," and Bookish Lifestyle called it "more than just a story, a journey and an experience." When I'm asked about it, I often describe it as "X-Men meets The Walking Dead." In addition to reading it here for free, you can buy Exile in e-book or paperback on Amazon.com.
