A rampaging metallic dragon is on the loose, plants are growing out of control, and three new demigods have arrived at camp. Then, to make matters worse, the goddess Hera announces that Demeter has gone missing, and issues a quest to find her.
She chooses Atalanta Keïta, along with the three newbies. For Atalanta, it's pretty much a death sentence. Quests are notoriously deadly, and she's worried that one of the new demigods might be a traitor. But she's determined to see it through, and come back alive.
Jason Grace is missing and the loss of their leader has made Camp Jupiter vulnerable...
But Naolin Arreda sees the empty void as an opportunity. With a chance to finally prove themself, they sign up to go on a quest to find the deity of Death with two barely-trained demigods and one weirdo. It may seem hopeless but Naolin is prepared to do whatever it takes to succeed and claim their rightful place as Praetor.
On Olympus, a rebellion is taking place, and a new enemy is arising. As demigods are thrown into the centre of the conflict, Atalanta and Naolin must find their place-and themselves- in a constantly changing world.

They must go to the newly discovered Roman camp, pick up three other demigods, begin the quest to Rome, lose some team members in Tartaurs, close the Doors of Death, and inevitably wake Gaea.
