After failing a mission, nearly resulting in her death, Batman has to bring her down slowly and end her career as Batgirl or as any crime fighter. But she doesn't stop. Batgirl is a part of her now. Maybe Batman just isn't the right mentor. She needs someone more cheerful. Optimistic. Understandable.
