It's no coincidence that the intel comes through, and they find files about experiments done to one person. 'winter 2.0' the team calls her, but to Bucky, the fear sinks in as memories resurface about one soldier in particular, Ace. Stronger, deadlier and she made the winter soldier in him afraid.
The work together to find out all they can, not realising that they are being watched by the very soldier herself.
After an attack on the compound, which leaves quite a few of the team shaken, one avengr in particular is intrigued by the univited guest now residing in the holding cells. Who is the masked assailant, and why is it, she listened to him?

The soldier begins to remember her past, fighting against all the Hydra conditioning, to remember who she was. Why does one of the men stand out? Who is he, and why does she have an overwhelming need to protect him?
She knows Hydra will stop at nothing to get their soldiers back, but will she submit to Hydra or fight for right to live free? With lives on the line, sacrifices will be made, but who will live and who will die?
