Even though almost everyone swoons over and loves him, he still feels like no one does because Mariana isn't part of the everyone but the almost. Mariana and Danny grew up in the same neighborhood their whole life. They used to be good friends but they slowly drifted apart once they entered middle school. In the middle of 7th grade Danny suddenly became friends with kids that would constantly bully Mariana but he did nothing about it. Mariana tried to still be friends with him but she gave up and hatred grew towards him. Danny knew it was wrong to be friends with them when they were giving her shit constantly for no reason, but he just wanted to make new friends and fit in. In 10th grade Danny tried to become back friends with Mar and apologize but she didn't accept it. She was heartless toward him and she wanted him to feel the pain he gave her and show him how it felt. Although she was still hurt by what he did, she didn't let it show. With the pressure of Danny trying to come back into her life she was already on the verge of losing it but when her mother suddenly died everything that was piled up became to much to bare.
