Every nuclear power plant has been obliterated by rebels. Anarchies have risen. Wars break out. Humanity is terror-stricken. And then, the Plague strikes. Without changing a person's personality, undergoing the Alteration perfects their appearance, IQ, and even their immunity to diseases. No human passes the age of sixteen without being Altered. Everything started in 2036. The pollution was so bad that the end of the world was predicted to be right around the corner. As complete panic set in around the world, the rich and important people were all gathered and placed on giant spaceships with enough resources and room to house generations of human beings. Before they left though, the government leaders fired As a result, most of the human population died off and earth was a complete wasteland. The little that survived started building local communities and trying to survive in the destroyed excuse of a planet. On the disaster of a planet, creatures mutated and were born out of the nuclear chemicals; creating new species and monsters that hunted humans. While hundreds and hundreds of years passed, the monsters kept evolving and the people kept adapting while still trying to keep a sort of community. They didn't want to lose all of their humanity and become nothing more than animals that hunted the monsters: then they would truly be no better than the monsters themselves. The bombs hit in 2021, it not only decimating the population, but destroying cities and miles of landscape surrounding them. Some bombs didn't explode, instead they held an infectious disease which not only infected the population, killing massive amounts of people, but crippled the areas, and at times left craters where they landed. The few survivors are spreading out, making it harder for the muraders from track them down and kill them. Unfortunately, the populations of survivors are dwindling fast and soon human's may become extinct. There's not much left except the will to survive in what was once a great nation. There's supposedly a group of well-lead individuals, somewhere in the midwest, making life as they knew it work again. The zombie apocalypse started in April. Hannah couldn't fathom how she was able to remember something so irrelevant, although when she has over a year of isolation from any other living human being it's startling as to how much detail and information one person can manage to reminisce. She was 15 years old when it began. Now, she was turning 17 and nothing had gotten better. If anything, everything had become harder. Human extinction was inevitable and the probability of surviving wasn't just slightly possible, it was impossible. Especially when she's alone.
